Report by Norfolk County Council on Local Government Reorganisation
Norfolk County Council has recently published the outcome of the appraisal and public consultation they conducted into whether Norfolk should have multiple, or a single Unitary Authority under the new Local Government Reorganisation process. Their report outlines why Norfolk County Council believes a single Unitary Authority would provide the best value for money and improved accountability among other benefits. Please see the attached report for more detail.
The County Council cabinet will meet on the 23rd of June to decide whether to proceed with the single Unitary Authority suggested by the appraisal. Should this be approved, there will be a further period to develop the proposal in more detail before a final report with recommendations is submitted to central government on the 26th of September.
