Burst sewage pipe on Mundesley sea front
Anglian Water are repairing a burst sewer pipe at the pumping station next to Mundesley Beach and North Norfolk District Council’s Environmental Protection Officers have been on site (05/01/2026) to check for any contamination.
To allow the continued use of the sewer system, wastewater is being tankered away to a nearby treatment works, meaning an emergency road closure is in place on Paston Road.
On 06/01/2026 Anglian Water provided the following update: “work is continuing to progress with the repair of the burst sewer pipe […] given the complexity of the repair and the weather conditions, we are now anticipating that the repair will be completed by the end of the week. Our team are on site 24 hours a day to keep an eye on the situation and we are also keeping the area around the excavation closed in the interests of public safety.”
